Description:

Struggle of EmpiresTM – Set in the 18th century, players take on the role of one of the major powers of the period and fight in both Europe and the colonies. At the beginning of each turn, through a course of auctions, players must form into two alliances. This clever game mechanic moves this game from an excellent strategy game to one of the all time classics. Allies cannot fight each other. This means that you do not have negotiations to worry about, nor do you have the “gang up on the leader” syndrome that is so common among many games. If you have an ally, he is with you until the end of the war.
Players must think carefully about whom they want to fight against and whom they want to ally with. In addition to the alliances, players have several improvement tiles that can be acquired to shape and improve their empire, they can ally with minor powers, and if players are not careful, their empire may possibly go into revolution.p<> While Struggle of Empires has an epic feel, it scales well from 3 to 7 players and has a surprisingly short rulebook.
